So, they disagree with the idea that

    • morally, individuals are categorically equal & have equal fundamental liberties
    • the coercive power of government is dangerous, so it needs to be denied authority to abuse those liberties
    • government exists for the people, who have a right to change & replace it?

These ideas are compatible with leftism. Rejecting them seems dangerous & incompatible with leftism.

By lacking accessibility, the post sustains a pattern of systemic discriminatory exclusion.

Images of text break much that text alternatives do not. Losses due to image of text lacking alternative:

    • usability
      • we can’t quote the text without pointless bullshit like retyping it or OCR
      • text search is unavailable
      • the system can’t
        • reflow text to varied screen sizes
        • vary presentation (size, contrast)
        • vary modality (audio, braille)
    • accessibility
      • lacks semantic structure (tags for titles, heading levels, sections, paragraphs, lists, emphasis, code, links, accessibility features, etc)
      • some users can’t read the image due to lack of alt text (markdown image description)
      • users can’t adapt the text for dyslexia or vision impairments
      • systems can’t read the text to them or send it to braille devices
    • searchability: the “text” isn’t indexable by search engine in a meaningful way
    • fault tolerance: no text fallback if
      • image breaks
      • image host is geoblocked due to insane regulations.

Contrary to age & humble appearance, text is an advanced technology that provides all these capabilities absent from images.

That is not what Liberalism is. Liberalism is the political ideology that came out of the struggle against the feudal aristocracy in early modern Europe. It is premised mostly on private property being sacrosanct and protection against “excessive” taxes and regulations inhibiting free markets and giving monarchy and aristocrats power over the merchants and business owners. It also relies on and extreme methodological individualism, founding all ideas about how people and groups work as tabula rossa individuals freely contracting in a vacuum, or as Margaret Thatcher put it “there is no society, just individuals and their families”. Liberalism was the ideology or “operating system” of capitalism that is fundamentally incompatible with any socialism.

Your response is perfect, but please be aware that said person definitely knows this and actively spreads neoliberal capitalist propaganda. They are not acting in good faith.

True, but the nice thing about a public forum is that everyone who isn’t a scumbag can also read this excellent reply and learn something.
