Thanks for the quick internet search but that is not how it works in reality. You cannot really just buy a Gen5 Glock 19 in Nevada and bring into California. You need to convert the mags to 10 rounds or less or bring it in mag-less. Then sell it through a private transaction. This usually comes at huge markup.
The 54 models you cited are all from Gen 3 or older. Why? They need to go through special testing for ‘safety’. Naturally law enforcement is exempt from these requirements.
The California Handgun Roster is an attempt to circumvent constitutional protections on handgun ownership by not implementing a strict ban. I get a lot of folks on Lemmy want to see guns banned but imo these laws use the same tactics as voter suppression in the US.
P320 was just added in 2024 I believe. Sig added a few different models specifically for sale in California.
I had to look up the Numbu. Is anyone making these new? Roster only applies to newly manufactured firearms. As long as the mag is 10 or less you can buy one through an FFL.
Naw the nambus are old, but also they have a tendency to fire when smacked lightly, so aren’t exactly “safe” and if that were the issue you’d think they’d be banned. (Ok sure the only people who will ever buy one are collectors for the most part, but still).
The p320 also has been known to have some mechanical issues, the drop safety issue (recalled, but not all were sent back), and there have been numerous reports of them firing in holsters or otherwise firing due to mechanical failures (iirc it’s the poor sear engagement and fully rocked single action striker [as opposed to Glock and their clones 1/3rd cocked double action striker], the sear wears with use and can trip when it shouldn’t, and the fully cocked striker sends it where the 1/3rd cocked may cause a light primer strike if it even bypasses the safety plunger.) Figure if safety were really the concern, that might not be on roster either.
Turns out (to nobody’s surprise lol) it likely isn’t about safety, as you mentioned earlier. I’m just jumping on the “CA gun laws are dumb” train.
You’re on lemmy, not reddit. We don’t want gun control laws. Or any weapon control laws.
Anything the workers can’t have will be used against us, nuclear proliferation among states until there are no states, gun proliferation among workers until all of us are workers.
Sorry to say it but you are in your echo chamber. Large parts of Lemmy are still the braindead vote blue no matter who redditors you know and tolerate.
That’s literally contained to the redditlemmy.world people. I don’t know if .ca federated with the decent instances but most of lemmy starts at the dissolution of capitalism, including the elimination of oligarchy backed gun control.

“Safety” lol. Quick question, are the P320 and the Nambu Type 94 on the roster?
