Just a little, I don’t think people act terrible despite the instance in every community.

Yes, you’re right I have seen many incidents on the triad where someone is trying understand the other’s perspective only to be cursed at and name called then they justify it saying they “only care a lot about the issue at hand”.
Thank goodness Piefed, Fedia.io, Lemmy.cafe and Infosec.pub exist.
“Purity beatings will continue until morale improves” - some people choose not to understand that change in people’s opinions happens through dialogue of rational thoughts. So even if the goal was to simply spread some belief structure (e.g. that communism was best, or Arch Linux is best, or whatever), those who simply vomit up their emotions onto anyone who does not immediately parrot the talking points is hurting their own cause.
Moreover, for some of us the goal of dialogue is to learn things and arrive at the true answers by listening to people who think about things differently. However, those who choose to speak rather than listen will never arrive at those answers - or even if they happen to already have them (a stopped watch is still correct twice a day?) they will never be able to have true confidence in their answers.
i.e., trolls exist on the internet, whose purpose is to troll rather than engage in rational discourse. This destroys the ability of the rest of us to engage in an enjoyable manner, much as children screaming in a room inhibits any deep discussions about like philosophy, or anything really.
And trolls can only exist when they don’t get kicked out. Hence they congregate in those certain places that allow them to thrive, inside those echo chambers. At which point blocking those whole entire spaces can greatly improve the sanity of anyone not looking to engage with trolls:-).

I’m pretty sure it’s called ‘the troika’
