Perplexity’s $34.5B bid for Google Chrome shows how AI companies want your browser not just for speed and convenience, but for your data — and your digital life.

I’m one of those weirdos who disliked “Apps” from the very beginning when Smartphones became a thing. Like, i can do all of the shit you provide in my browser. Keep off my data. But with even Firefox as the only alternative to chromium moving fast towards AI its maybe time for me to just enjoy the net with open source apps which explicetly dont use AI at all. I just cant anymore.

If you’re on iOS or macOS and still want to use WebKit but want decent extensions, Orion is pretty fantastic.
