TL; DR: No.
there is an axiom for news titles that ask a question. ‘Any new title that asks a question the answer is always ‘no’’
Betteridge’s law of headlines.
What’s the difference between an axiom and an adage?
strictly speaking? adage is more tailored towards unverified wisdom. axiom is more mathematically stringent. i was being fairly loose with my terminology. adage would be the more proper term here.
I agree. I went down me a rabbit hole after work because I speed bumped on this hard today. According to the most excellent and authoritative source, Wikipedia, actual studies of headlines asking a yes/no say the opposite, a greater number answer “yes” than “no”.
smile disagree! wikipedia cites academic journals for the majority ‘yes’ case, which is an entirely different beast. the new articles were firmly in the no category since you get to lump the ‘undetermined’ into the no group. But I dont particularly care one way or another beyond amusement. =)
I sure hope not.
