Recently i found out that pip actualy works normaly in Brawe browser. Which was amaising on itsown but now, the question is why it doesnt work in Safari…?
I think YouTube is actively trying to force user to use its app. Sometimes YouTube show me an error message that I cannot have a full screen on my IPad and the next day I have no problem being in full screen.
YouTube blocks it. There are extensions to allow it (like Vinegar) but by default it’s blocked. Brave might work around YouTube’s block in the same way.
I highly recommend spending a couple bucks on Vinegar, it blocks ads and allows for PiP
Something to confirm might be if it’s only for YouTube or if some other site works.
You mean is it broken only for youtube or for some other sites as well?
Correct
Try something (make sure Settings > General > > PIP automatically is toghled on)
- Go to youtu
- Play the video
- go home to springboard and pull up for command center
- see if the video is in the top left playback control section
- if it is press ay
- if not try playing the video again and try again
I know you can make it work by “cheating” the system. For example when you play video, put it in “full screen" mode and just svipe to the left to previous app and video will pop up on the screen.
But i dont want to cheat, im wandering why it doesnt just work normaly, like on brawe browser…?
I dont know anything about cheats, thats what i do with brave. Or make an automation that is triggered by safari closing and its action is play/resume playback. Just try it, k, i dont know what you’re looking gor otherwise
Brave needs a hook and they use whatever “cheats” or hacks they need to make things work. Safari doesnt have the same incentive and but they do have an incentive to placate Googe and it would probably piss off their customer if they made it too easy to bypass their enshittifying Yutube
Also by making that not function they create space for a market of plugins which generate more revenue so yea
I think, safari doesn’t support pipPip is funkcion that apple made and Safari is also their browser so ofcourse Safari supports pip.
You can try it with any other site and it works normaly, only on youtube it doesnt work…
Okay, my mistake then. I don’t know the answer
