Youtube doesn’t let you download the videos directly. If they did, you’d be right. The fact that the original yt-dl was shut down by Youtube kinda disproves your point all by itself.

Running personalDNSFilter (whole phone, non-root adblocker) blocks ads just fine for me in the official unmodified Youtube app.

Chrome + Ublock Origin Lite also still works, fyi.

Pretty easy to know, in fact. Same way Netflix, Disney, or HBO knows. Same account, accessed simultaneously from two distinct IP addresses. Not really rocket surgery.

The podcasters that you are referring to being “trapped in this” chose to be “trapped”. So don’t just be upset with Spotify over it.

These regular rank and file Americans were always hateful and bigoted. They just kept it mostly to themselves and their peer groups. Now their peer groups span the entire country thanks to the Internet.
