I’m looking for easy but engaging and NOT tacky. Will be watching on my tablet so nothing that will get lost on it.
Any ideas?

Aren’t those all TV shows? I assume OP wants movie suggestions because it’s in this community.
Oh whoops.
‘The good place’ is a contender.
I have no idea what tacky mean in this context, but recently i’ve been watching The Mentalist, a CSI-type drama about an ex con-artist solving crime. It has cheese like CSI, but imo it’s much better, and also charming. Nothing mind-bending or anything.
Fallout is also good if you haven’t watch it.
I hated the end, but until then I had good entertainment!
Seven Samurai, if you haven’t seen it. It’s long enough that it features an intermission. One of the top, all-time-classic films, and debatably Akira Kurosawa’s most influential work, given how many remakes and reimaginings there are of it.
For something less classic and more quirky, check out The Hudsucker Proxy.
If you’d like an anime drama, check out 5 Centimeters Per Second. It’s a feast for the eyes and won several awards when it came out. That one’s also only just over 1 hour, so it’s convenient to squeeze in if another film doesn’t fill the time of the flight quite right.
I quite enjoyed watching Killers of The Flower Moon during a long flight, as well. That one’s like 3 hours, so it’s perfect for when you’re on a plane with no distractions.
Just to add a couple more if people like the first couple suggestions
Yojimbo is my favorite Akira Kurosawa movie, and works well as a double feature with the follow up Sanjuro. Both were also big influences on western makers like Sergio Leone like a fistful of dollars and for a few dollars more that led to the good the bad and the ugly epic.
Hudsucker Proxy is a classic Coen brothers movie early in a long line of really good movies & some others that have some lighter tones are leaving Arizona, the big Lebowski, baton fink, & o brother where art thou. Similar older comedy I’d check out some Marx brothers and they have done a bunch of work with Sam Raimi (spiderman 1-3, evil dead, drag me to hell)
And one that combines both suggestions pretty well I think is the latest True Grit remake
What’s Eating Gilbert Grape is an excellent movie, starring Johnny Depp and featuring a very young Leo DiCaprio
If you like historical dramas The Convert is very good. It’s a fairly basic premise with good acting and the cinematography is beautiful.
The Green Mile is excellent if you’re looking for a movie. If you’re looking for a TV show, Mr Robot is one of the best.
French police drama, may not be great if kids are looking over your shoulder.
* Thought you meant series.
I loved this series! Now I’m gonna have to watch it again
Look up whatever Old stuff still has cult audiences, that you haven’t seen, they’re made for those smaller tellies, theyd go great on a tablet.
