didn’t a lot of women end up leaving tinder because it’s gained reputation as exclusively a hook-up app, leaving mostly bots? Is this meme just a v old repost? I believe Hinge is the app de jour, but I might be out of date.

A combo of Hinge and Bumble, apparently. Seems to be working for my buddy anyway (to the absolute fury of the people he complains to re: the number of matches/dates he gets because they don’t meet his marriage standard, which is high)

it’s important to be with who you want, don’t settle for whoever comes first.

Absolutely, I don’t fault him for that. It’s just kind of hard for other folks to relate, when he’s getting up to 10 matches a week (real figures, saw it in action myself) and the guy he’s complaining to got like 1 in a month

Real talk, I find it hard to believe the kind of woman he’s looking for is on a dating app. But who knows?

Planning on making an account too because I have no idea how to interact with people outside. Hope to find at least someone I understand with.

Have you ever applied for jobs? I think dating apps are somehwat comparably demotivating. Just be sure you can handle it.

Pro tip: don’t. It’ll make you feel worse than if you just isolated yourself.

The incentive structure of dating apps is completely twisted and makes you feel like every part of yourself is getting commodified and ranked.

Find some social groups or clubs and go hang out there. You’ll have a much better time. Many people don’t mind if you aren’t comfortable with communicating, just being present is a positive in their book.

I suggest to just talk with people online using social media and social networks, try to not use tinder because it’s based on the look and IMO ot’s a toxic thing. For example i know a lot of funny people from discord

Stay away from communities that allow childrens then, there are plenty that are adults only, for example a friend of mine run one

You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention. I’m not well versed in discord, how exactly does one look for local communities?

There should be a compass button to search communities or you can use a website like disboard/discadia and such (i usually use those websites) Or do it in the hard way: look up online communties in various socialmedia or streamer/youtuber and see if they have a discord server

Try if you must, but as a guy after 10 years on and off these dating sites I just completely gave up. It’s like a constant attack on your self worth and for me I just ended up feeling absolutely pathetic and worthless. I’m still lonely but I feel better than getting ignored constantly and literally only getting likes/messages from bots that want to scam you.

In that 10 year span I went on maybe 6 dates total…
