Not an Android feature, a Google Pixel 10 feature. It may tricle down but Aplle will more likely patch it to hell before that happens. In my humbe opinion.

This is part of the changes the DMA resulted in so I doubt so since Apple was made to make changes their end to make this work to begin with.

Isn’t this because of EU regulations? I’m not sure if they can patch around it if it might be part of the WiFi standard they were required to follow.

I think I heard something similar but I’m not sure. Personally think Apple will find a way to maliciously comply as they have before. Then again I’m no expert.

Probably because older phones are in maintance mode for the OS. Adding new features always carries some complexity and testing all models takes time. Limit the models to test to only the more recent ones and you save money.

That said, it would be so nice to have a more open system where I can decide that if that goes on my phone myself.

I’ve literally never used, or thought of using a feature like this.
I got my family and friends useing Signal. Use that for photos all the time, in person or not. Files, maybe a couple times in 5 years.

This is a nice. A lot of iOS users swear by AirDrop so it’s nice to be able to use it with them if needed.

Use it for what? Genuinely asking.

It sends files and stuff between devices right?
But it’s limited to what’s nearby?
I’m not sure how it’s better than messaging platforms, they do that pretty well. And from any distance.

I currently am in a hobby where someone might want to send photos, but we don’t know each other well enough to have each other’s contact details, AND they want to retain quality of the photos of the event that they’re sharing.

Essentially I’ve only “needed” it twice over the last five years, so not a big deal.

Happened to me with a group of people when offroading out in the middle of nowhere and no data/wireless. Almost impossible to share info without going back to civilization. Doesn’t happen often, but its a nice feature to have.
