Very cool. I have no hope that it will be any good but I am morbidly curious.

I watched it on a cruise a few weeks ago. It’s better than I was expecting, although it is very obvious it’s Leto’s movie; like you can just tell in most scenes that that’s what he wanted to do and that’s what he wanted to say. They bring up Depeche Mode a couple times and I was just like “That’s just Jared Leto being Jared Leto” like the opening scenes for Aquaman 2 is just Jason Momoa being Jason Momoa.

The action is cool, the effects look great, the soundtrack is pretty good. If you compare it to the other Tron movies (just based on the fact how well each one did at the box office) this is one is about on-par.

      I still prefer Legacy though.

All that said, it has a lot of cool ideas and implications, but it is essentially just another special effects music video with some good action.

The Depeche Mode exchange, while awkwardly inserted into the movie, was one of the few things I genuinely liked about it. (I didn’t hate it. It mostly elicited a shrug.)

        Spoilers? I guess?

The first time Ares really realized he was becoming more human was when he couldn’t articulate a logical reason why he preferred Depeche Mode to the classical music being discussed.

I like Legacy because Clu is kind of a Tragic Villain. Like he’s basically Kevin Flynn’s other son, who had done everything his “father”/creator told him to do, and it still wasn’t “good enough.”

I really like the scene when they go to Flynn’s compound and he has that flashback, then the moment of rage as he throws everything off the table.

Especially with the first Tron where Clu is just a sort of throw away program of Flynn’s. Flynn likes Tron more, he believes Allan’s program is better than his own and Clu knows it. So when Clu finally takes over the Grid and essentially traps Flynn within the Grid it’s still not good enough. Clu STILL isn’t good enough. Flynn is STILL trying to find and reconnect with Allan’s program, Tron.
