So I am moving to Germany and since they are pretty rough on their piracy laws (even though I’ve not had a leak in ten years) I don’t feel the old VPN/killswitch/public tracker thing is going to keep me safe enough.
So I’ve been looking into seedboxes and am interested in ultra.cc but still using VPN and FileZilla for downloading. I read up on their allowance of public trackers, but if they receive a DMCA notice they can send it to you or delete your account.
So I ask, for those that use seedboxes how do you get by with public trackers? All I really care about is downloading games (FitGirl)… I am accepted to 1 private tracker but they have no games and am struggling…

If you care about your country’s laws why would you purchase a service subject to kyc laws in order to break your country’s laws in order to be on public trackers?
Just use a paid vpn with port forwarding like air or something and get on a private tracker for games. It’s easy, all it takes is consistency and organization. The sooner you start, the sooner you can finish.
E: it may not be clear what I’m saying. Kyc is short for know your customer. Places that offer services or process payments are subject to kyc laws that make it a requirement that the processor or service provider have records of who they’re handling the money of or selling services to. It’s relatively easy to purchase a vpn while bypassing kyc but buying a vps (virtual private server, the type of service that a seedbox is) using a chain of tools and payment handlers that bypass kyc is much harder.
When you say that the seedbox provider you’re considering will forward requests or delete your account it’s kyc laws that create the terrain that forces that set of behaviors.
If you’re worried about your country’s anti piracy laws coming down on you for using public trackers then using a seedbox service that’s legally required to be able to be tracked to you (because they have to know their customer) isn’t a way to bypass that.
You’re gonna have to learn to bind your client to an interface no matter what, but getting off public trackers is a great way to avoid legal problems.
I haven’t had any issues with public trackers on ultra.cc. I probably download about 100 or so public torrents a month, but that’s not new release stuff that’s likely to get a DMCA notice.
The VPN killswitch is not safe for bittorrent, it doesn’t work fast enough. Binding the torrent client to the VPN interface is safe though.
Does the VPN/killswitch even really matter when your torrent client is in a seedbox I’m not sure. I was under the impression it wasn’t even possible in this case
No, you don’t need a VPN if you’re using a seedbox.
So like, the government doesn’t subpoena the seedbox company to find out what you download?
The killswitch isn’t safe for bittorrent on your own PC as they have a tendency to expose your IP briefly when the connection drops before it kicks in. Binding your torrent client to your VPN network is 100% reliable though so no need for a seedbox.

Yes it’s gonna keep you safe if you make sure to bind your VPN to your torrent client. It’s safer than a kill switch.
I have good experiences with torbox, they have a webdav server you can use to transfer your downloaded files to your PC. Their most premium tier also gives you access to usenet, if that’s of any interest for you.
seedbox.io (now hostingby design) is (i believe) based out of emirates and they host/rent in leasenet.nl datacenters.
Running one of their grandfathered plans.
And they allow(ed?) public trackers. Havent received a letter :)
AirVPN is fine, make sure to bind the interface, there are docker containers which prevent leakage too, you can then host a home seedbox.
I’m not sure how I feel about a home seedbox because from my research I see that if something were to fail it would should my IP. Plus it seems too complicated for me to make sure that doesn’t happen…
that said, i’ve used leaseweb dedis in the past and never had any trouble with public torrents. Maybe try seedhost.eu (they use leaseweb) or feralhosting.com (own ASN and all, unlimited traffic)
No need for a seedbox if you only really care is downloading on public trackers. Another alternative is Real Debrid.
