I watch his streams here and there. Mostly for the news, I feel like his platform is great for learning about things you generally don’t hear about on mainstream news. He does have this annoying tendency of pulling out straw man arguments and sometimes belittling anarchists/anarchist movements. It comes across as very disappointing cause outside of that the dude definitely knows his shit, and with 40k average viewers he could easily bring together a ton more leftists if only he was more open to anarchist theory. Wanna hear from my fellow comrades!
Almost anyone in that “Twitch Streamer” form factor is going to be absolute trash as far as learning about the world and politics / history, for the simple reason that if they actually did effectively advocate for how to see things and what to do about it, they would get removed (as Jon Stewart did from Apple TV for example).
Hasan in particular has a habit of starting with the conclusion or the “correct” ideology, and then bending the facts to fit that narrative he preemptively adopted. He also viciously attacks anyone who ever disagrees with him even very mildly, which isn’t a real good thought pattern for him to model for his viewers.
I have some recommendations for alternatives (Al Jazeera being first on the list) as far as news sources to consume if you actually do want to be kept up to date on what’s going on and relevant left-leaning reactions to the world, but I’m not sure about quoting the list because IDK how likely my comment is to be removed if it has some wrongthink in it. Oh I didn’t mean like I watch him as my primary news source, I meant more so that I’d tune into his streams from time to time knowing I’m tuning into a political/news show. But thanks for the info.
