Almost anyone in that “Twitch Streamer” form factor is going to be absolute trash as far as learning about the world and politics / history, for the simple reason that if they actually did effectively advocate for how to see things and what to do about it, they would get removed (as Jon Stewart did from Apple TV for example).

Hasan in particular has a habit of starting with the conclusion or the “correct” ideology, and then bending the facts to fit that narrative he preemptively adopted. He also viciously attacks anyone who ever disagrees with him even very mildly, which isn’t a real good thought pattern for him to model for his viewers.

I have some recommendations for alternatives (Al Jazeera being first on the list) as far as news sources to consume if you actually do want to be kept up to date on what’s going on and relevant left-leaning reactions to the world, but I’m not sure about quoting the list because IDK how likely my comment is to be removed if it has some wrongthink in it. Let me know if you want a DM of the list or anything.

My take is he’s a spicy liberal and so I don’t trust him and I don’t consider him a radical leftist in any meaningful way. He’s a sanitization of leftism, palatable to progressive democrats. Its nice that he seems able to get people into more radical leftist ideals, but that is all the credit I would give him. He’s like a gateway into radical left politics, but thats about it.

Funny dude, but he’s not an anarchist and never will be. He’s very much a white USian so he has some serious blind spots on race. Fundamentally limited by his support for Democratic politicians. Not a police or prison abolitionist either.

He’s some rich kid with a major in communication who found a viable enough niche in internet marxists in order to buy a McMansion and some sports cars. I don’t care much for influencers, but I guess having him taking kids off his fascist colleagues’ streams is better than nothing.

Hasan showed himself in his stream roasting a litter of kittens on a bonfire and eating them for lunch. I no longer respect him or the streamer format. Animal cruelty is a serious matter.

I think he is honest about his intentions and a great communicator of leftist ideas and politics. He is a youtuber and public figure, I don’t expect him to be perfect but I have listened to a lotttt of his stuff at this point and I have never run into anything that made me respect him less or think he wasn’t genuine and honest.

He crossed the line reproducing Islamist propaganda multiple times, downplaying the Huthi and shit like that. I’d say he’s close to being a Tankie. He might have had potential but he became really vile, provokative and edgy over the past couple of years.
