Anyone have a good resource on how to DeDRM kfx Kindle books? For Linux desktops? Looks like the latest I could find required running a Windows only keygen to work (if it works). Trying to see if I can’t get something to work on Linux with Calibre before just downloading the books from the high seas.

Yeah, I have that and it was great. However, after they disabled the ability to download, Amazon introduced a new file type, .kfx instead of .amz or whatever. I haven’t got DeDRM to work on those at all, and it looks like you need Windows with some tools to break it.

I’ve got it working on Linux as recently as about 6 months ago. I installed an older version of kindle viewer via wine. Not sure which version right now at the top of my head, but it worked great for me.

The latest DeDRM uses a key from the installed version of the Kindle program, which is for Windows. I think you can use a key from the Android or Amazon tablet versions too, but I’ve never been able to get it to accept those keys

        Ah, thats annoying.

Yeah I’d probably just grab a clean version somewhere myself. Or if its not available, an extremely short-lived VM just to get that key going.
