when the steam frame was revealed i was so hyped! coming from a quest 2 i thought that i will finally be able to get a vr headset that can compete with pc vr but standalone! maybe il stop being kicked out of vrchat lobbies for being on the cheaper and more affordable platform compared to a pcvr settup that could cost potentially thousands!

but no, its just a -very good- wireless headset that can play things standalone but not very well. i heard that it cant even play the flat screen game Hollow night silk song well. also due to ram shortages it could cost over 800£ compared to the 500 i thought it was going to be.

I made a deal with my mum that i will not get anything for christmas, and she will get me the steam frame for my birthday on march 6 :D. im probably going to get a quest 3 like i was originally going to get for Christmas. maybe il get metro awakening and bonelab with it aswell (instead of sailing the 7 seas lol)

I don’t know how you’re using/planning to use your headset, but I don’t care much that it’s able to play embedded Silksong (if that struggle is even real).

Matters a lot more to me that I can get a few simple/optimized games for “mobile” VR like a couple rhythm games and cool VR toys and stuff. Everything else can be PC streaming, including bigger VR games.

hold on you can’t say that and not link to where you got silk song performance stats. I haven’t seen anything about anyone having access to do proper benchmarks

I would guess once the Hollow Night devs release a version that isn’t slowed down by two compatibility layers (Proton and FEX) it should work quite well on the Steam Frame hardware.

But yeah, it’s not going to be 500, but I think it is worth the extra cost over the Quest3.

If you would like to skip the Meta shitshow, the Steam Frame is not a bad option. If cost is your biggest issue then The Quest 3 is going to be your best option. I like my Quest 3 and I use it only for PCVR using Virtual Desktop.
