Can you not get the HPV vaccine as a guy? Is it like not allowed in some areas? In my area, men, women, children, etc all can get it unless you’re close to retirement age.
Men can get HPV-associated penile cancers, although they are obviously much less common than cervical cancer. Still…you don’t want to lose your dick to dick cancer. Had a case somewhat recently at work with this scenario.
And besides penile cancer risk, the vaccine would help prevent it in their female partners. Or it can help prevent anal cancer in your male (or female) partners.
Idk it just seems like a win-win for everyone to get it.
The cost will be INSANE whenever these become available, each vaccine is personalized to a specific cancer in a single person. But unlike other vaccines you wouldn’t be able to get one preventatively. They’re more like a treatment option which targets a cancer specifically (unlike chemo). Since every person’s cancer is different the vaccine needs to be custom made from a sample for a specific cancer in that specific person who already has it.
Considering that current cancer treatments are already incredibly expensive, I think there is a good chance that this vaccine might be the cheaper option in comparison.
the biologics used against them are the brundt of the cost. plus insurance plans are very nitpicky at something like chemo agents of how much they will cover.
its likely car-t TREATMENT, uses the patients specific cancer cell to make a vaccine against, which can be expensive. since different cancers have different mutations, and even some “same” cancers have different mutations one another in the same subtype.
If I can get vaccinated against cancer, I’ll sign up no matter what dumbass antivaxxers say
Girls vaccinated against HPV have >80% less cervical cancer 10 years later.

Unfortunately I am a man

Bold of you to think this thing gets any use
Right, right, because of the crushing weight of responsibility should you transfer HPV between people. I understand. Well, I have good news for you! 😉
Bahaha. Ok I’m ngl this is why I haven’t gotten it either. Sometimes I decide I want to get it anyway “just in case”, but then I get lazy about it. 🙃

Bulk of the cost?
Fair enough. I’m not sure I’d use the word vaccine for it but still some amazing stuff
Vaccine works if you’re thinking of it as immunization against relapse
