Hypothetically, what stops someone from just labeling Lemmy a malicious site, and getting it blocked on most browsers? I can easily see this happening if Lemmy becomes relevant enough.

I’d chalk it up to someone spreading FUD or Norton Internet security just being an absolute trash fire.
my bet is that his system is infected with something redirecting him there, and the norton trash he is using instead of windows defender doesn’t detect the infection, but the firewall blocks the connection to the site at least lol
Had the same thought. Definitely some weird stuff going on in the background, that has nothing to do with lemmy. Also lemmy has lots of different domains. Would be stange if everyone of them redirects.
As far as I can see, no such request is sent. Probably a false positive.
