The US Department of Justice is currently pursuing two anti-monopoly cases against Google - one over search and another over advertising technology. The department has laid out potential remedies in the search case, including making Google divest parts of its business such as the Chrome Web browser and ending agreements that make it the default search engine on devices like Apple's iPhone.

Watch the proton ceo ignore this while claiming the Trump administration “wants to regulate big tech”

Nor do I. Wasn’t the Proton CEO kissing the ring a few weeks ago?

Apparently that was a misunderstanding, he communicated badly. Or I’m thinking of something else, idk. https://archive.ph/xoleo

Killing Google to serve as a warning that the rest of them had better follow orders might be useful…

Eh I don’t see that happening, the sheer amount of data Google has on the US population is probably quite useful to the admin, for, uh, reasons.

Microsoft got off the hook when Bush II took office. Tech in general took that as a sign that monopolies were fine. That was just starting to be reversed when Trump took a second term and here we are.

Can we get some actual tech related news please? This is just politics OF a tech company, not tech itself.

What’s the last significant tech development you remember? They’re all just monopolistic lobbying firms.

Mahle SCT/MCT Hybrid no-contact electric motor, the one that doesn’t need brushes or rare earth metals.

This community has done nothing but bitch about technology - there doesn’t seem to be anyone here that actually enjoys technology, so much as they like bitching about technology.

This is cool - I hadn’t heard of it. This article describes it (while being suspiciously similar to the press release itself): https://newatlas.com/automotive/mahle-perfect-electric-motor/
