So, I used to have my own VPS and utilize saltbox to roll my own seedbox, but I just can’t afford that anymore (could have been my specs, but I was paying like 30-35/mo).

I have used whatbox way back in the day, before my VPS, and it was good.

I’m looking for an adequate seedbox. I’m mostly a Usenet person. I’m very familiar with Linux from terminal.

What do you guys use, other than a VPS and a local NAS. Thanks!

Not sure if this is a requirement for you but if you are used to using your own VPS then you might be used to have root / SSH access. When browsing seedbox services you may want to double-check if their plan(s) offer that.

Pulsedmedia has some decently priced offerings. I’ve used them a few times here and there. Pretty solid. You can probably find something to your liking in the neighborhood of 9 to 10 bucks a month.

If pricing is a concern that shouldn’t rule out a VPS. Managed seedboxes are way more expensive than setting it up yourself for the same amount of storage/bandwidth.

Go to lowendbox.com and/or use serverhunter.com to find a VPS that’s more in your price range. I currently pay $22/mo for 8TB of storage and 50 TB of bandwidth at 1Gbps.

If you absolutely don’t want to use a VPS for some reason, then I had a very good experience with feralhosting. I used them for 3 years without issue. But 8TB with them is around $75/mo compared to the $22/mo I’m paying now.
