Reminder: Everspace and its sequel support VR natively (edit: Not 2, it requires a mod; the promised native VR support was not added), the first one can definitely be run on a potato at this point, and should handily fill all of your space dogfighty pew-pew needs. And is also not a fucking “live service,” buy it once and it’s yours forever, and the first one is only twenty bucks on Steam.
The first one is a roguelite with permanent progression mechanics and the second one is much more Wing Commander Privateer than Rogue Squadron, but despite coming at the genre from different angles they both scratch a pretty similar itch.
If neither is enough of a simulation for you, Elite: Dangerous also natively supports VR (except for the on-foot expansion for some damn reason) and can keep the right kind of nerd happily entertained (?) for years.
But while we’re editing: There’s also Star Wars Squadrons, No Man’s Sky which natively supports VR, Star Citizen has partial support (but to be fair, everything in SC is halfway done), House of the Dying Sun natively supports VR, etc. There are tons of space games that don’t require encouraging Meta.
Meta funded means no sale from me, hombre.

Everspace 2 never got VR even though I think it was suggested at some point during the kickstarter.
You are correct; I tell a lie there. You have to use UEVR to mod it for VR support.
I played the shit out of Everspace 1 but still haven’t gotten around to 2, other than reading about it. At $50, I can wait until it goes on sale.
