I’m usually more surprised by every tv-show and movie depicting someone brushing their teeth and then rinsing their mouth with water after!? What!?

Is that not how you brush your teeth? Because everybody I know brushes their teeth like that.

It’s how I learned it but it turns out… the most health benefit from tooth paste comes from not rinsing it out. The fluorides do better work that way. Also the main reason why you should brush 3 minutes. No mechanical or cleaning reason. It’s to keep the fluorides on them.

Yeah, but you will swallow everything you brushed off - even worse with morning mouth. That’s why I brush a second time and don’t rinse the second go.

I still rinse, but as of late have taken to using mouthwash between meals each day.

The mint hurts my mouth. I use a specific toothpaste, but I’ve used many kinds, they all hurt the inside of my mouth. I have to rinse to make it stop. Idk if other people think tooth paste hurts. My dentist compliments me on my teeth, they are not in terrible shape, my teeth dont hurt, its my mouth. idk what it is that makes toothpaste hurt but I have to compulsively rinse.

Super late, but I don’t know about you but there’s fluoride in my tap water. A bit from toothpaste is negligible.

I’ve been told to spit out the extra, but dont rinse. It’s supposed to help your teeth absorb the fluoride. Also been told not to eat or drink for about 20 minutes after, not just for fluoride aborption, but because brushing gets rid of a protective film over the teeth and they are more prone to wear and tear until it’s built up again.
