Literally the only thing that ever worked for me before I got medicated was trying to pick the smallest possible task or amount of time I would be okay with. “Okay I don’t want to clean my room, but I think I have it in me to throw away these three pieces of garbage on my desk” or “I think I have it in me to clean for 5 minutes”.
Sometimes I’d just do that and then quit, but sometimes I’d do it and then continue.
it’s so annoying that i’m totally aware but still unable to trick myself into starting

The starting is the hardest part for me as well. Thank god I can usually cruise once I overcome that hurdle, but only with meds.
