      I’m not sure what you mean. Why would a thriving indie dev scene make stealing art profitable? Can you give a concrete example of something that would happen on a large scale without IP laws?

        If Steam could take and resell your games without paying you anything, they would sell more of your game than you would and all of those sales would be lost revenue for you.

          But here’s the thing: There’s no point in buying a game without supporting the devs. At that point you might as well pirate, because what you’re describing would just be piracy that you pay for.

            If the devs don’t give it away for free and the distributors don’t give it away for free then you’re getting files from a third party which has risks associated. That’s literally the only reason not to pirate now.

            Also, the Corpos would still have antipiracy methods like DRM and control all print, merch, and other media.

              You sound like you’ve never actually talked to someone who plays indie games. “I wish I could pirate this but I can’t” is a virtually unheard of sentiment, because in the first place anyone who wants to pirate already does. There are plenty of safe and trusted piracy sites. The vast majority of games can be obtained for free, yet people pay for them anyway.
