Just started and completed Ender lilies this week. Combat was very floaty but it was an overall enjoyable metroidvania. Different combat movesets added novelty.

Mars First Logistics. You build your own little mars rovers with graspers, to transport cargo in weird shapes over difficult terrain. Surprisingly lots of fun to me, especially the good physics simulation.

Just finished Stray. Yes, I got it because you play as a cat (who was created with great detail), but it also has solid storytelling, world building, and level design.

I’m on a break from Cronos: The New Dawn and back into more patient gaming. Inspired by Remedy’s 30th Anniversary I decided it’s time to play the Alan Wake 2 DLCs, so now I’m doing some prep work.

I replayed the Alan Wake 1 DLCs, replayed Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, and I’m about to start a replay of the Control AWE DLC. Then into the Final Draft of AW2 again and finally the DLCs.

I actually quite like American Nightmare. It’s a low budget Xbox Live Marketplace game so you have to take it for what it is, but there are some interesting lore bits in there and I just love Ilkka Villi letting loose in the videos of Mr Scratch.

After a week of Hades 2 deep diving, I’m back in the literal mines of Deep Rock Galactic. Haven’t played in long enough that I can safely wipe out my years old save and start anew, and its still a pretty good experience. Kinda wish there were more Assignments running during the week, but hitting random and helping out folks feels good enough.

Also enjoying Rusty’s Retirement while I’m browsing stuff or watching a stream. Not much to say, its a good chill idle game and I enjoy raising the little crops and building more helper bots.

Twin found a game for us to play, Luma Island Pirates. It’s been going well. We’ve been playing in casual though. If the other modes use energy, I can understand the complaints of it being a grindfest.

We got a pirate pig though so that’s cool.

I’ve been playing Graveyard Keeper by myself because single player. Otherwise we’d play together. I just missed the dlc being on sale, and our credit cards haaate gamebillet, so I got one dlc full price and will wait for the others.

Suddenly felt like playing something with friendly fire.

Tried Counterstrike 2, but I lost 5 rounds to bots of the introductory 12 and it let me know I’m not that able anymore. Then I remembered I had Hell Let Loose and went for that. Yeah, I suck. Can’t see anyone, feels like the foliage is useless to hide me out of sight, I build the wrong things in the wrong places etc.
But it has friendly fire and I’m good at that.

Elec Head. It’s a puzzle platformer that exemplifies the best design philosophies of puzzle games. It has only a few mechanics but explores them deeply.

It’s a short game. I finished the core game in only a few hours but there are still collectibles that require clever usage of the mechanics.

I actually got it because it was cheap in a bundle with the dev’s newer game, Öoo, which I tried during a recent Steam Next Fest.

The Lego Marvel games. If you squint, there’s almost a bit of a trilogy going on there, even though one of the games is about the MCU Avengers.

GTA Online, not sure if I‘d recommend it, but I‘m having fun with friends since I’ve never done the heists before and not having to play in toxic pub lobbies anymore is a boon

No More Heroes because why not. I still maintain it’s a little overrated, Suda51 does not seem to have any interest to top it, and I’m not a fan of the busywork between boss fights, but it’s still an arcade-y fun game to play and replay, and I’m happy I can replay it on PC now.

I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more had it been as linear as Furi, minus the walking segments, but it’s alright as is.

    No Rest for the Wicked

It’s better than I expected, but since it’s not really an arpg (PoE, LE, GD, etc.) or a crazy action game either, I’m starting to wonder why I would keep playing it over my beloved Nioh 2. I guess the amazing visuals, neat base building and slight verticality are a plus, but if I look at the combat alone, it’s very good and fun, but I hear Nioh 2 calling.

WAY better game that I expected tho, revoews have not been kind to it in the past.

why I would keep playing it over my beloved Nioh 2

Quick question about the combat in Nioh and Nioh 2: how much of it would you say is action (combo system + combat mechanics) vs. RPG (gear and stats)?

I’m more of an action guy and don’t typically have a lot of fun with action RPGs or souls-likes, so I was wondering if it’s action enough for me.

Examples of the games I didn’t enjoy: The Surge, NieR:Automata, and Scarlet Nexus.

Not sure you’d like it them. It’s basically Dark Souls at the start, then it becomes much crazier like DmC without a jump button. You start by getting destroyed by any enemy, then YOU become the monster they should run away from. Amazing powertrip for the record.

Then, mix in some spells (slow casting, no spam), Diablo/Grim Dawn loot (best I have seen in a non-arpg), and endless content and variety.

It’s combat system is very good and much deeper than Souls, especially with the Ki Pulse - kind of a manual stamina recharge button the squeeze in between attacks, on block, etc. Ads a nice dance to the combat.

So… can you name a few games you did enjoy? It’s so good, make sure you don’t overlook it.
