I got Control: Ultimate Edition for $4 on sale recently and was really surprised by how good it is. One of the few games I’ve stuck with right through to beating it, and the DLC too. I’ve been considering Firebreak but the backlog is long and money is a little tight for frivolous promises right now. Sounds like I should play Alan Wake, though!

I liked Control but Alan Wake was a sludge. Its age really shows. That being said, it wasn’t necessarily bad enough that I couldn’t tank through the game, but if Control were in lower A tier, Alan Wake would be upper C tier

Yeah AW1 honestly isn’t that fun. I played about half of it and then just read the story and watched some videos about.

AW2, however, is excellent. Very very good. And I spent enough time with it to get the platinum trophy.

Its a cool game and there is really nothing like it but I won’t lie I hate actually playing it, the controls and gameplay are just meh and some of the bosses are ridiculous but the setpieces and everything else was top tier.

It seems to have gotten a pretty mediocre reception in a crowded market space prone to “winner takes all”, so flopped pretty hard
