I find it astounding that streaming services have such shitty apps still

it’s the foundation of their business, and yet…

It is by far and away the worst streaming app. I couldn’t finish several episodes, including series finale, due to their app crashing during ads and ending up in an endless loop of the ad timer restarting.

I’m not sure why the Star Trek streaming service is charging more money when they’re not streaming Star Trek.

Seriously there’s nothing else on the platform.

Only time I had Paramount+ was when I could get annual for 50% off for 2 or 3 years in a row, so it worked out to like $5 a month. Didn’t work this year so bye Felicia, and you can take your price hike with you.

This is Business 101. You establish a product or service, get a customer base, trade off the low-paying customers for high-paying customers. I don’t know why this is offensive or mysterious, did it when I fixed PCs on the side. Low paying customers were a pain in the ass, biggest complainers, had the most issues, cost me overhead and time. Wanted to help them, couldn’t afford to. Bigger businesses have already figured this out.

The mystery is why so many are happily paying for this bullshit.

Posted on Nextdoor.com how the Trump admin was slashing NOAA and how that was serious for us on the Gulf Coast.

“Don’t care! I can pay for my AccuWeather app you filthy liberal!”

“And where do you think they get their data?”

    “Not talking to ignorant toddlers!”

<somewhat paraphrased, but that what the gist of the conversation. Also got made fun of for bringing up Project 2025. “FAKE!”>

Point being, I had no idea anyone was dumb enough to pay for a weather app. Imma stump for Weawow on Android. Free, works for me. You can pay for bells and whistles, works great without. Only thing I’d want is tides, can’t expect that from a free app. 🤷🏻

Why is Paramount+ so much more expensive in the US? Do you guys get a lot more content over there? It is fairly bare-bones in Australia (although it does have a lot of live football, which is why I pay for it) but the price gap is still massive:

    New US prices (in USD):

The Paramount+ Essential (ad-supported) plan will increase by $1 to $8.99 per month, and the Paramount+ Premium (ad-free) plan will rise by $1 to $13.99 per month. Annual plans will also increase, with the Essential plan moving to $89.99 per year and the Premium plan to $139.99 per year.

    New Australian prices (in AUD):

The Basic with Ads plan has gone up from $6.99 to $7.99 per month. The Standard plan has gone up from $10.99 to $12.99 per month, and the Premium 4K plan has gone from $13.99 per month to $17.99 per month.

The Paramount Plus annual plans have increased in price too. Basic with ads has increased from $61.99 to $70.99 per year, Standard from $97.99 to $115.99 per year, and Premium from $124.99 to $159.99 per year.
