AI is useful for basic, mundane tasks and that’s about it. Trying to force it to be some sort of Uber search engine is such a bad idea.
Alexis Ohanian, who co-founded Reddit, is not Steve Huffman (Spez/current Reddit CEO). He’s done some solid activism and charity work, unlike the piece of shit Spez. The fact it seems he’s trying to distance himself from Reddit by trying to revive their former rival is some rich irony.
There are other search engines than google. I never even mentioned Google specifically in my responses, that was the top comment. I used the generic term. VPNs and anonymizing extensions also exist. “Appropriate forums” can and are infiltrated/monitored by fascist government agents all the time, so don’t pretend like it’s that much safer unless you’re also taking safety precautions.
Edit: I will add that your best bet is finding a local group initially and going analog from there. But again, those aren’t immune to fascist spies, so I’d recommend learning how civil rights groups of the past/present reduce(d) their risk against infiltration/spying.
It’s gotten worse, I won’t argue that. But basic stuff is still quite easy/straightforward to look up, and using search modifier tools is still incredibly useful in narrowing down results.
Man, it’s crazy how bad it’s gotten with people not knowing how to use search engines, let alone how to effectively use them. If it’s not on their social media platform of choice, it’s simply unattainable information.
Oh 100%. He’s 13 years old and still acts like a big, dumb puppy. Yellow labs/labs in general tend to be like that, though. Just happy with life, haha.
Unless you’re my dog, who fucking loves going to the vet and groomer. He has zero survival instincts, though.
It’s damn near the very bottom lol, so I forgive myself for missing that. When I skim something for a product, I’m looking at the tech specs/BLUF message, not digging thru the entire page of text. Anyway, glad it’s all sorted out.
Thanks for the info! Was actually thinking my current watch’s battery was beginning to hold a charge less and less lately, so definitely keeping these in mind.
I did indeed skim pretty fast, but it doesn’t say that, it just says from 7 days to 30:
Before anyone gets excited:
The Court of Appeals did, however, acknowledge that works made by a person with the assistance of AI can qualify for copyright, while also noting that no legal standard defines the amount of human participation necessary for such recognition.
I think the primary motivation for this guy to doggedly pursue this case, is so he could claim ownership over anything this/future model(s) produced, regardless of his involvement. It would’ve set a bad precedent in a lot of ways.
Anyway, people/corpos can still click a button to generate shit and claim copyright since the court acknowledges that any miniscule amount of human involvement qualifies.
Does this interface with your phone at all? Tried skimming thru their website but the fact it doesn’t list Bluetooth in the specs leaves me confused why you’d spend this much money on a quasi-smartwatch that doesn’t have that capability.
It’s actually illegal in some US states, too. Right to repair at the federal level is still being fought, iirc. There was a lot of progress being made around 2023, but got stalled. Hopefully the current oligarchy administration doesn’t end up butchering that movement, but I’m not very optimistic.
You’re out of touch, my man. 90% of the population aren’t paying attention to what rich people are saying and doing. Pretending that everyone that bought a Tesla 5+ years ago knew that he was an insane asshole all along and are now feigning ignorance of that fact to save face doesn’t make it reality. But whatever, keep getting worked up over something that doesn’t really matter at present.
And every mobile carrier I’ve seen in the US in my region (the Midwest) has ridiculously low data caps on 4G/5G internet service.
But on that note, yes, as you move farther from civilization, you get less civilization. That’s just a fact of the economic system those farmers just LOVE.
That doesn’t change the fact that virtually every facet of our lives requires internet connectivity. Paying bills, coordinating and conducting business, education, etc. Look, I’m not saying they should expect fiber connectivity to their rural homes. But satellites offer another option for Internet access and acting like it’s completely irrational for these folks to have it is ridiculous.
Oh for sure, but with CBII, malicious ads can’t exploit a vulnerability and infect your local system.
Not everyone can live in urban areas. This is such a stupid take. Fuck farmers and other folks who’s livelihood relies on being further out from living centers, I guess.
You can only catch so much at the edge and DNS level. Browser extension catches the stragglers that get through. But we’ve mitigated virtually all browser induced malware possibilities by just moving to cloud-based internet isolation. It’s similar to what the DoD uses, if anyone’s familiar with their use case: https://www.bylight.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/CBII_2020-2025.pdf
To be fair, their predatory DLC model for Sims 4 means that their primary customer base has hundreds of dollars invested. Abandoning it at this point might piss a ton of them off. It’s also worth considering that a lot of their users aren’t normal gamers. They typically have basic devices that aren’t really geared towards gaming, so a newer game that’s more demanding might further alienate their base.
A million sales is a lot, but it’s nothing compared to over 85 million copies sold that Sims 4 has achieved.
