Zelensky will inevitably reject this nonsense of a deal, just how he’s done with such deals proposed by Russia in the past. So it could be that Trump wants to just shrug and say “okay, we tried, no more weapons then”. As he’s been trying to do from the start.

The actual outcome, as usual, depends on whether Zelensky gets to talk to Trump again and get him to flip in his confused haze, yet another time.

My guess? Piss off Europe so that they take charge instead of deferring to the US.

This would free up US resources to pivot to the indo Pacific region and countering China.

This is one hypothesis that makes sense here, because the deal sounds like one of those horseshit proposals already presented by Pu previously and designed so Zelensky will obviously reject it.

Trump has been in bed with Putin and Russia for a long time.

He was even impeached for it, but the United States legal system failed to do anything about it or Trump’s other bazillion crimes, and American voters are the biggest fools on the planet and gave him power again.

Trump has been championing “peace deals” between Russia and Ukraine throughout his second term periodically and they all involve capitulating to Putin and the United States sucking off the teat of Ukraine’s resources.

The reason is money and power. Trump and his team of fascists the world over want to control everything that there is and people like Zelenskyy and the innocent people of Ukraine present an obstacle in that they have been incredibly persistent in standing up against aggression.

Trump and his team have been happy turning the United States into a mafioso oligarchy similar to that of Russia and Putin is therefor a natural ally and has taught them a lot on how to manipulate political systems, media, and populations, and create a system of fear and control.

I have no doubt there is a plethora of corruption, blackmail, and a litany of moral and legal fuckery going on between the oligarchs of Russia and the oligarchs of the United States on a daily basis.

Seems to me Trump’s “peace deal” is a pathway for the US and Russia to split the wealth of Ukraine, disrupt NATO’s ability to defend Europe, and warn others not to stand up to fascism as the new world order.

Of course it’s not just Trump and Putins blackmail and/or bribery it’s all the rich people in both countries. It’s a chessboard with a fuckton of pieces.

Do you think Ukraine will take it?

Zelenskyy has proven to be an incredibly intelligent, capable, and strategic leader and thinker. From how he has managed past struggles and other offers from Trump, I do not think he would accept this deal.

I feel Zelenskyy will try to negotiate the deal into a watered-down deal that will amount to no one get anything substantial and having nothing changed, but will let Trump bring back a piece of paper to wave to his MAGA supporters that he is a “peace maker,” to pile on top of his other lies.

I see US support waning to matter what the outcome of this and I am hoping Ukraine will continue its resistance to Russia with increased support from Europe and other Western-allied nations.

My heart will break for Ukraine if the deal is accepted, as it will ensure the continued genocidal acts against the Ukrainian people and culture, and the increased instability of the world, but truly I have absolutely no idea what will happen.

Crazy, awful times we live in and it is so unfair that regular people who are just trying to live their lives in peace are the ones who suffer for madmen who sustain this suffering.

people like Zelenskyy and the innocent people of Ukraine present an obstacle

That was true only at the beginning!

Meanwhile there are many other countries involved. It has become your typical proxy war, where Ukrainians are just the victims, pawns on the board.

Putin is therefor a natural ally and has taught them a lot on how to manipulate political systems, media, and populations, and create a system of fear and control.

I doubt that Putin actually teaches him.

I rather like to believe that he simply orders him around - by means of “deals”, because that’s Trumps language.

Trump doesn’t care about peace. Trump cares about Trump. And his mindset is reality television. He wants to be in the headlines. Hero or heel, he does not care.

Obama got the Nobel. That stings. He wants one so he can “equal” if not best the accomplishments of Obama, who openly mocked him during that White House “comedy” press gala. That personal vendetta drives him.

He wants that sweet sweet Nobel peace prize and a lasting place in the history books. Probably why he wanted the Commanders stadium named after him too.

If I had to guess that it was anything more than narcissism, and I put on my conspiracy theory cap, I’d bet he wants to look like the victim when Venezuela fights back so he can have expand the border war into a literal war that he can leverage to remain president the rest of his crusty life. But you never know. He’s not smart enough to figure it out on his own.
