While it started off rough, Google seems to have made the right improvements over the past few months on Android’s Find My Device network.
Are they still defaulting to “With network in high-traffic areas only”?
Because that essentially makes the tags useless.
Until it works well in rural areas I don’t see the use case.
It’s always been fantastic for me…
It didn’t work before? I’ve been using it for years to find my devices and I’ve never had an issue.
The article is specifically in reference to Find My Device Network support for Google’s AirTag competitor. There was some fucked up shit with it originally and it didn’t work properly.
Same. Years. Two or three times a week, easily.
I haven’t really had much issue with it beyond the first bit of getting my pebblebee tags to switch from their network to Google’s. They didn’t want to ring until I paired them twice.
My wife and I just tried it last night! We were really impressed with the results! For the record, I have an iPhone and she has an Android. I’ve been carrying around the tracker, though.
And now do it without Google.
