Hate to be that guy, but don’t smoke weed at 16 y’all. Wait until you’re 18 at least. All signs show that it’s likely not good for development at that age. You’ve got decades to enjoy it

18 is a way more relatable age for casual smoking influence. You can definitely just toke once in a while and be relatively fine. But god damn, did those perma-high friends of mine back in the day really just burn out.

I was perma high around age 18. Burnout never happened to me and made physics and engineering classes fascinating. I was basically a high functioning pothead right out the gate.

That may be the case but here’s a possible alternative explanation: you weren’t as high functioning as you thought and were actually working at a disadvantage.

I mean the later the better for sure. But the risks substantially drop off once you cross 18 compared to under 18.

Ok but I’m 34 now so I guess I can’t do anything about my 16 year old self.

Lots of people do. I’m not here to lecture you about it and give you shit. I’m just trying to arm people with information

I mean it’s not literally going to kill you but it’s pretty clear that it’s not good for adolescent development and it’s way safer to start at a later age. Just like alcohol. 18 tends to be where things calm down risk-wise. THC dependency/alcoholism are also far more likely with people who start at an earlier age.

I get you don’t have regrets about it but that doesn’t really change anything. Personally I have a lot of anxiety about brain damage (dramatic yes but you get the connection I’m sure), so for me it was an easy to decision to wait a bit.

And before people start getting all pissed off about it, I’m a frequent user of both. I’m not preaching prohibition/abstinence. But people should wait until they’re 18 before they start really using this stuff

Actually yes there is such a thing as THC induced psychosis but it’s not so simple as “I smoked weed too early.” I’m more speaking to the negative impact on adolescent development if you smoke (usually somewhat regularly) too early. One toke is not going to have a big impact. The risk of psychosis has a lot more to do with family history and other conditions someone may have that may have not been diagnosed yet, such as BPD and schizophrenia. So yes I guess technically it would be higher risk for adolescence because they may have an undiagnosed condition that they’re not on guard about, but not exactly in the way that you’re implying.

The other thing to consider is that weed is exponentially stronger than it was 15 or 20 years ago. Hell it’s increased in potency a lot even in the last 10 years. Shit is jet fuel at this point, you almost have to go out of your way to find bad weed now. I can take one hit from my dry herb vaporizer of bud from our mediocre medical dispensary and I’m more than good, even as a regular user.

Not even at 18, is still quite young and developing. Wait until you’re fully jaded in your mid 20s

I mean I honestly didn’t start smoking with any regularity until my late 20s, just here and there up until that point. But realistically, a lot of people are going to start smoking regularly when they get into college. So I try to meet society where it’s at lol

It’s better to wait longer, but it’s substantially higher risk to start before 18

Don’t vape anything inside of a business, please. It’s rude to do so. If you cannot wait until you go outside before hitting your pen, you may have a problem. Retail workers have to put up with so much shit, let’s not add to it by being jerks.

I don’t know about others, but if I need weed to do something, weed is a bit too big a thing in my life, so if I can I reduce. When I need density its no fun. I can’t compress joy I don’t actually have.
