To people put off by the slogan, a reminder that the IDF, being an occupying army, under international law is absolutely a legitimate target for violent armed Palestinian resistance.

Now, I wouldn’t actually wish for death to anyone, so the best thing for all involved is for the Israeli apartheid to be dismantled and the IDF to be subsumed by the armed forces of the post-apartheid democratic government of the plurinational state of Palestine and Israel. So let’s all wish for a gentle passing away to the IDF instead.

Also, think about what the choice of chanting “Death, death to the IDF” over “Jews”, or even “Israeli” shows about the lack of antisemitism.

Literally soldiers who have signed up to fight and die and genocide civilians en masse.

You have every right to go to jail or flee instead. And in my opinion, a moral obligation.

“My death empire will detain me a little if I don’t abet the mass murder of children” is not a good excuse.

Fleeing is only an option for the rich - as Elon demonstrated when he skipped Apartheid-South Africa (the same Apartheid-South Africa that allowed his family to grow filthy rich) before the SADF could get him.

For all practical purposes, so is going to jail as a conscientous objector - you’re going to need that wealth since you’ll be ostracised and utterly incapable of finding paid work after or even ever if you’re just lower working class. That’s how it worked in Apartheid-South Africa, at least.

None of this matters, of course. The unwilling conscripts and the enthusiastic volunteers all wear the same uniforms. There is very little room for these kinds of qualms when the bullets are flying - it’s war. If I was a Palestinian, none of this would cause me to hesitate in any way whatsoever.

I’ve met Israelis who have fled from serving, if you’re outside the country between 18 and 30, iirc, you skip it.

Also there are conscientious objectors who choose state sanction over serving.

I also think in Israel you can choose to do service in social service and community service roles over combat ones.

So did Apartheid South Africa for whites.

Which, by the way, is the real reason Elon skipped South Africa - after Apartheid allowed his family to grow rich, of course.

To add to that people put off the slogan Israel’s been committing a genocide in Gaza for the past two years.

I I think if you’re committing genocide it’s fair to wish for the destruction of the military force doing said genocide.

If the slogan makes you feel uncomfortable that’s a “you problem” and I feel like you need to do some soul searching about why you’re protecting those committing a genocide.

Yes I do know about the Holocaust, and the Dreyfus Affair, no I don’t think that justifies the creation of Israel as a state and certainly not one that’s as blood soaked Israel is.

I mean yeah, a peaceful solution is obviously ideal but… Isreal doesnt seem to want to allow that. If a peaceful revolution is impossible…

All I’m saying is that in the absense of more peaceful solutions, im not going to lose any sleep if every single idf member and member of isreals government made an oopsie with a window.
