Ever since i was young i have refused to wear maching socks. Whenever i have tried it just feels wrong. Do you all have a similair “clothes quirk”?

Ps. Funnily enough it has nothing to do with texture. Specifically on my feet I do not mind texture fore some reason.¯_(ツ)_/¯

I can’t wear denim or anything with a high amount of synthetic fibers (nylon is the worst for me). Well, I can wear skirts with synthetic fibers, solely because they aren’t in constant friction with my skin, but anything that’s tight to my skin is a no go for synthetic fibers

I don’t like graphic tees, for several reasons. I don’t like the feeling of printed fabric kn my skin. I also swear, no matter how many times someone claims “we looked everywhere and are proud to say we found t-shirts that actually feel good!” The shirts never have as good of a material or cut as the generic ass solid color t-shirts I get. Seeing the print slowly start to crack and fall off over time makes me sad. I don’t like the visual stimulation of a bunch of text or graphics or busy patterns.

Finally, having something, especially words, on my shirtt feels like I’m trying to start a conversation with the world. For a lot of people, t-shirts are a way to signal their interest and that they WANT random strangers to come up and talk to them about it. It allows people to form a community. And I absolutely do not want that. I don’t care if we listen to the same band: I don’t want to stop and chat with some random stranger as I’m walking around.

I can’t stand hoodies. The weight on the neck is weird. I have long hair that makes hoods a pain. I don’t even like pullovers- I prefer to have something that zips or buttons or is just open in the front.

I hate having my forearms covered. Always rock a rolled up sleeve when I have to wear buttoned shirts.

A lot of my clothes are either gray or black; socks, underwear, tank tops, etc. I always alternate the color so I wear them down evenly.

Excluding underwear and socks, my entire wardrobe is earth tones - mostly olive green. I basically wear the same outfit every single day. I don’t want to have to think about what to put on. Now everything I have goes with everything. When I take a clean shirt, I just grab the one from the top of the stack.

It has become a kind of inside joke. Whenever someone catches me with a new piece of clothing, they compliment my choice of (green) color.

For me the best is shorts or sweatpants always with optional sweater or t-shirt, ideally not both at the same time. Crucially no socks or underwear, I prefer washing clothes more often to wearing underwear.

I am in sweat pants or pj pants every second I am not required to be in public. Also denim sucks but I find it more tolerable if I get the jeans that have a decent percentage of elastic, those are just way more comfortable but still look the part.

Also nothing can touch my forearms. I don’t like wearing short sleeve shirts because they are too breezy, but I absolutely must roll up the sleeves of any long sleeve shirts so they aren’t touching my forearms. I live in a place where 0°F (-18°C) isn’t uncommon during the winter, so I will tolerate a coat because it’s more painful to be cold but if I’m shoveling snow or whatever, you bet you’re gonna see some weirdo with his coat sleeves mashed up over his elbows but also wearing gloves… I’ve gotten more than a few comments about that look.

Everything has to be stretchy, or so loose as to never restrict movement. This naturally means my clothing is a softer texture as well, so lovely bonus.

No necklines that touch my neck. I can do v neck and tank tops, but not crew or turtle neck. Similarly, pants have to flare from knee down, no skinny or boot cut, and shirt sleeves have to be loose everywhere but the wrist.

Socks have to be knee socks. Can’t stand any other kind. They have to have the same overall feel, but can be different colors and stuff. However I only wear socks and shoes when I absolutely have to. I strongly prefer being barefoot (even in snow for short periods like getting the mail), or wearing flip flops if I won’t lose toes to cold.

    Shoes. Absolutely hate wearing shoes.

I wear trainers with my suit. In my younger days I used to make training software for the military, so would end up in various barracks every now and then for setup. After clocking the trainers, my escorts would usually diplomatically explain to me that I won’t be allowed in the mess hall for dinner unless I’d also brought some shoes with me.

I get why the military has these rules (it’s part of the whole thing), but have never understood why other people and places value shoes so much.

When I started lifting, my thighs got so thick that I started going through a pair of jeans every 6 months or so. Then I just stopped buying them and have now gone without for about 15 years. Had the same issue with work pants but am now buying the stretch ones.

I used to think that jeans are indestructible. Apparently not.

I must wear two shirts always. I guess I used to put on too much antiperspirant because my shirts used to get crusty pits, so I started wearing a white undershirt under my tee shirts. I can’t wear one shirt. The only exception is when I’m sleeping, and it’s always in a white undershirt. It could be a billion degrees with 100% humidity and I’ll still be wearing two shirts.

I absolutely cannot wear non-matching socks lol. I have some socks that have the brand name on the outboard left and right sides of the socks. I can’t wear two left socks or two right socks or whatever. I feel unbalanced the entire time. That’s wild how it’s like the same, but the opposite also.

I mostly wear black vest as I found T-Shirts horrible to wear if I’m warm. Black looks more casual compared to white vest which personally, it looks too underwear-y.
