If JD Vance becomes President, she will likely join the US Government. Remember that name. Katherine Boyle.

Not gonna hold my breath that this isn’t a self deleting spam account.
^Disclaimer: not disagreeing with the content of the post, just that this account matches a pattern of behavior by accounts that have been running rampant on this and other communities^
I hate that OPs get to control conversations on posts by essentially being able to delete what everyone said when they take the post down. I’ve been in the middle of conversations before and the post just vanishes, essentially cutting everyone off.
At least on reddit the comments didn’t go anywhere if the OP link got deleted
1000% I stopped contributing complex comments awhile ago due to this, don’t plan to resume again until it’s fix/goes away
After being permabanned myself without prior warning (and fully agreeing my behaviour deserved a warning or even a tempban – I’m not perfect), I’m beginning to understand people who create new accounts.
And it’s interesting that people are now by default suspecting new accounts to be permaban dodging accounts, vs a genuine new person.
I think you should always be skeptical of fresh accounts. Many sub reddits would require a certain amount of history before posting.
Thankfully we’re not in spez’s backyard.
Kind of. It’s certainly difficult to deal with this.
It is. But we’re at a size that such blunt approaches that penalize new users are not needed. And that’s a good thing.
This specific account always posts 5-6 articles usually with a name that is a bunch of letters and then a number and then deletes his account. It was really annoying before Rimu put some code in to keep blocks for deleted accounts because it used to be you’d block this asshole then he’d delete his account and his posts would show in the feed but as [deleted]@server.com.
The other comment said “self-deleting”
For the past short while, one person has been creating and deleting accounts repeatedly. It hurts discussion because the threads keep disappearing. It’s harmful behavior that deserves to be called out
deleted by creator
I’ve never heard of this person before and now this is the second Lemmy post I have seen on the front page of my all feed in the past 10 minutes, the other one being posted by an account that is 13 hours old.
The fuck is going on and why is this lady being targetted by someone?
Her brow artist hates her.
The predictable comment about a powerful woman’s appearance.
We predictably comment on powerful men’s appearances as well.
It happens, but not predictably. It happens to every powerful woman every time. Which have you heard more about: Hillary’s cankles or whatever the fuck that is that hangs off the bottom of Mitch McConnel’s chin? I rest my case.
Mitch McConnel’s throat sack inflates when threatened

Congrats, one instance found. My question was which do you hear “more” about.
I hear more about Mitch McConnel, aka the turtle, than Hillary. And that’s taking into account how much my wife loathes Hillary.
Today was the first time I’ve seen anyone mention Hillary’s cankles.
It’s amazing trying to convince people that sexism in fact exists. On the one hand, you have the overwhelming reality of the facts on your side. But against you, there is also unlimited head-in-the-sand excuses.
So I think I’ll just gesture vaguely at everything and let you figure it out.
I don’t think I agree, recently at least. I can instantly think of several male examples (Trump’s orange, Vance looks like a thumb, how can Musk be SO white), but relatively few female examples (Hillary’s powersuit maybe?). Perhaps just where we put our attention, or how polarised everyone is that this type of comment will always come up, but I don’t think it’s as gendered of an issue as it was. At least not as related to politics.
On a related note, I also hadn’t come across Hillary’s cankles, but had enjoyed much laughter at McConnell’s skin sack lol
Nah, ignoring the fact that anyone doing what she’s doing is literally evil, I don’t comment on the way someone’s body exists in this world. Now, if someone goes out of their way to style their appearance, I use a different ruleset.
If someone has control over something and has obviously spent time on presenting it a certain way (e.g. color combinations, outfit style, cool earrings), then it’s a matter of taste. I love to hand out compliments in person about stuff that like. And I don’t feel bad about similarly criticizing rich, war profiteers online.
That brow shape is not a natural brow. In fact, she appears to be trying so hard not to have a natural brow that it makes me wonder if a unibrow once personally insulted her.
That thread ender, holy. Well said.
I’m thinking she could have made mistakes on her brows early in her life. That could also be the case.
Someone’s choices about how they handle or present their body are just as much a part of their appearance as the way their body was made at birth, so your elaborate excuses fail to get you off the sexism hook, from which you hung yourself quite clearly earlier.
Elaborate excuses? It’s just me explaining my thought process.
Do you go this hard against people making fun of the fit of Trump’s suits?
No, because that is not part of a systematic program to diminish men and undermine them from occupying positions of power. When women are equally represented in power and comments about women’s appearance are equally random and not 100% fucking predictable then I’ll handle all such comments the same, and not before.
You’re really far behind here if you don’t understand this, but I don’t expect a lot from someone who would make an openly sexist remark in public, I guess.
So I can’t criticize a woman’s eyebrows, ever, because some dudes make surface level remarks about innate characteristics and dip?
You’re conflating objectification with a critique of execution.
How will you make it through life without the ability to criticize a woman’s eyebrows? I leave that grand challenge to you.
The predictability of someone trying to shoehorn an agenda unnecessarily.
It makes her look like her forehead is wide and her eyes wide apart.
I really don’t need to know about every asshole that might be adjacent to American politics. This community really needs a no US politics rule …
What if we throw Susan Boyle at her, really fast?
What did Susan do to deserve that?
Nothing. Just trying to cancel a negative Boyle with a positive Boyle.
Positive Boyle you say?

Have them joust to see which Boyle gets lanced.
She’s not in the government yet - we need to show up at her house and make sure she understands that she needs to be careful
hypothetically of course
People like her aren’t stupid enough to take public government roles. The truly powerful rule behind the throne. I think the reason we’re all raging about billionaires, particularly in tech, is that their manipulations are shamelessly public now days.
