Recent weeks’ clashes between Syrian state forces and Kurdish forces have developed into a multi-front assault on Rojava, threatening open war as a means of forcing it to integrate into an Islamist state structure. Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are resisting sustained attacks using drones and heavy weapons by Damascus-affiliated militias in Hasakeh and Raqqa, including near two prisons housing thousands of Islamic State (ISIS) fighters. SDF confirmed that repeated assaults on al-Shaddadi prison were initially repelled at heavy cost before the facility ultimately fell with thousands of ISIS fighters escaping, despite its proximity to a US-led coalition base that did not intervene.
The Kurds aren’t going anywhere. Rojava will return.
I figured it would end up like this. There was no way they would ever tolerate what Rojava was doing, and all those calls for unity from the new Syrian state were full of shit.

That agreement seems basically dead now after the recent heavy attacks and large parts of the arab members of the SDF switching sides.
However, with the US troops seemingly having abandoned the Kurds yet again, and the SDF coalition desintegrating, it doesn’t look good for Rojava.
Edit: looks like after the agreement from Sunday failed, there is now another 4 day cease fire for the SDF to sort out what basically amounts to their surrender. Not great, but it might prevent some bloodshed.
