Why is it? It’s a video instead of text, and the video doesn’t even have subtitles
Because reissues of old games are overpriced.
The example given is Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 for $100
I found some articles which quoted release pricing at $70 and questioning that being a reasonable price, so $100 may be beyond the pale.
Edit: CA vs US explains the displayed price difference.
You can unmute the video.
People can be hard if hearing or in situations where it would be impolite to blast your audio, like a bus or train
That’s console pricing and that’s why I stopped buying consoles. Nintendo is especially bad with this. They make great games but always charge full price.
They didn’t used to. It used to be when a game made back its R&D costs it would get a price cut. The current management is ruining Nintendo.
I gave Nintendo one chance when I bought a Switch a few years back, and Mario Golf (because I loved the Gameboy game).
I did not feel like I got my money’s worth from that game.
well, technically, I gave them two chances, because I also bought a Zelda game for Switch, idr which, haven’t really played it yet. but I don’t count that because I bought that as a thing to do with my partner, not as an actual attempt to enjoy a video game (we had been working through the Zelda games from N64 onwards side by side)
Did the shop add a significant markup here or is this some non-USD currency? Otherwise that price is $30 more than even MSRP. Right now I could buy it for 50€ here, which is still probably too much but significantly less egregious.
Its Walmart canada (based on the sign in the background) so 99.99 is the MSRP based on Nintendo.ca. that’s a little over 70 USD
You’re right, good catch. Canadian dollars makes sense.
There’s a scam by large companies, Apple included, where pricing globally is based on US prices. Even with tariffs by US on everyone, and no tarriffs in US colonies, companies boost prices everywhere to subsidize US customers. Our colonial governments say nothing.

So what? Don’t buy it. Do you NEED a video game that came out 15 years ago? Don’t buy it.
Do you need any video game? Don’t buy it.
Hence the emulation title, genius.
But there’s also other options like emulation
They don’t NEED money for their old ass game, fuck em
I feel like some of these videos are people just riding the hate train? Nintendo has always done this. Everyone agrees it’s a stupid practice. In Nintendo’s eyes their content is always about the software and not the physical aspect of it. The value of their IP never goes down, so they never lower it.
Until the Switch, popular first party releases received price cuts via Player’s Choice and Nintendo Selects re-releases. Getting rid of that, hiking Nintendo Switch 2 console and game prices, and pushing their Nintendo Switch Online subscription are all signs of increased greed on Nintendo’s part.
And you’re saying that’s not a reason to hate Nintendo and their shitty practices? You even agree that its a shitty practice. Why shouldn’t they get hate and shat on for this very reason?
