How is sleep considered cheap? You have to pay a monthly subscription for the right to sleep, it’s called rent.

How is sleep considered a source of dopamine?

A quick search yielded it helps reset and balance dopamine receptors but not that it provides any.

I had the same thought about therapy. Like who says that’s a dopamine source? Feels like they just added random activities here. How about ice skating or baking as well?

Dopamine regulation as a whole could be considered “Dopamine Responsibly”, the way I see it.

It’s lumping an incredible amount into small categories. I would bet your named activities are going under the hobby category.

This seems like a really thrown together at the last minute chart. Where’s sex? Why is learning expensive? It’s only expensive if you’re doing it specifically with a degree in mind at a college, because wikipedia is free, and there are a ton of resources out there in the form of free ‘classes’ with quite a bit of material. Fuck, even textbooks at the library are free(ish).

Processed food is cheap? Jesus, I wish. Exercise is more expensive than breathwork? Hooooow? AND HOW IS MEDITATION MORE EXPENSIVE THAN BREATHWORK?!? It’s the same damn thing with a different focus!!!

Oh my god, how is alcohol more expensive than caffeine? Have you seen how much it costs to get a good cup of joe? Coffee’s nasty, but whatever. It’s not as if three shots from a bottle of bottom shelf tequila/vodka are going to last you a lesser amount of time than the caffeine buzz. Shit, unless you’re really nursing that coffee, alcohol’s time to metabolize is going to last way longer.

helps reset and balance dopamine receptors

I mean, its sort of like asking how a tune-up for your car provides transportation.

If you’re receptors are burnt out, your ability to process dopamine is severely inhibited.

It’s my body’s natural reaction whenever it doesn’t get enough dopamine.

Are we still driving down this highway? Screw that, we’re going to sleep.

Yes they do, until they get arrested for being homeless, because sadly many police and politicians just don’t care. ☹️

Yep, on the taxpayer’s dime, unless it’s in Florida or one of the other states that mandate work in prison to pay off your own bills. Nothing is truly free.

Anyone who has had to sleep rough (or just tried going camping without a tent) knows the relative value of four walls, a mattress, and a properly temperature-controlled room.

When I was about 12, I went camping with the church youth group. First day, it rained pretty hard for a couple hours. I left the tent door open the whole time. Everything was wet the whole trip. Sleeping while surrounded by water and wet things, is very uncomfortable. So, yes, all of these things are extremely important, and EVERY person should have access to all of these things.

I get your point, but in many areas shelter is not an option, it’s mandatory. Get caught sleeping on a park bench or out in the woods, straight to jail…

Sleep is a necessary biological function, but you’re not allowed to do that in public or on property you don’t rent or own in most places.

Hey I don’t make the rules, if anything I don’t mind homeless people popping a tent up out in the woods (which itself is technically shelter from rain, snow, etc), as long as they’re not causing harm, committing crime, or leaving trash all around…
