No tolerance for Nazis, or people who vote for Nazis. No tolerance for MAGA, or people who vote for MAGA.
Another way to look at this is that grifters and power hungry people always exist, it’s only when the average person gives them attention that it rots society.
It’s those who were just following orders that make it a reality.
Here is a longer version of this:
“And people did this, just like you, you and me. These people did not come from another planet. […] They were human beings, just like us. And it was not Hitler who arrested me, not Goering, not Goebbels. The grocer, the janitor, the tailor, the shoemaker, the baker, they suddenly got a uniform, a swastika armband, and there they were, the master race…”

Say it louder for the people in the back. Some yankistani “historian” here on lemmy, literally said Nazis they hired after the war were fine because they learned “american values”.
I don’t believe that society will recognize me as a hero for doing something about them. I would expect a very long prison sentence or the death penalty. Is my unwillingness to act cowardice?
You will be recognized. 50 years after your execution somebody will make a post on c/workingclasscalendar to celebrate your bravery.
That might be all I really need.
Edit: im reading beowulf, so i might be a little bit wound up by the heroic culture it describes.
I’m not dying to maintain the status quo
What’s your vision of no tolerance?

I’ve seen this before, and I just had the curiosity to see what it was from. Apparently the original, Hitchcock said “insomnia” not “fascism.” Still a good meme though, but I’m still glad I know the origin.
No shelter. No compromise. No conversation.
You must convince people that minorities are a threat. By contrast, the world knows Nazis are dangerous, and I will not allow even a moment of my mental energy will be wasted trying to reason with a Nazi. The hatred they ooze is not within reason, and it doesn’t deserve the miniscule amount of respect thats required to have a conversation.
When they are not allowed to engage with their detractors, they whine and pound the table. It makes me smile.
That’s a good question. How far must we go to ensure that “Never Again” is reality? The resurrection of fascism in the US and Germany show that mere social ostracism or even outlawing Nazi rhetoric outright does nothing when people get complacent and the capitalist elites start spewing propaganda.
We must ensure nobody gets absolute power, because power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
You keep wealth distributed evenly among a population and have their needs met and these things don’t happen.
Well, not all the way evenly. It’s fine to have relatively rich and poor. Money should be a measure of what your society owes you, and society owes my doctor more than it owes my deadbeat… whatever, who just doesn’t want to get a job.
Make that doctor as many lattes and avocado toasts as he wants.
Everyone working 40 hours a week should be able to ask their neighbors for things like “take my garbage from the curb to the dump” or “educate my kids” or “make me a sandwich”. That is the concept of money at its core.
We’ll say the going rate for a skilled worker is $100k a year with a working lifetime of ~40 years, about $4m in total. Ain’t nobody out there that deserves the lifetime’s work of 250 people working solely for them, 40 hours a week, ~44 weeks a year. (That’s about a billion dollars.) Yeah, maybe you can control that many people or more if you’re working towards a common purpose and providing value for others, but that would be a billion dollars in gross income that’s redistributed, not net profit for one person.
I mean, I don’t have the energy to discuss specifics, but I think at a very base level we agree here that people should contribute to society as much as they can and get what they need and that nobody should just get passive income.
Bullet to the head.
The neck has proven to be successful as well.
nice try fed.
Its the game that we gave power over humanity.
We gave to the foundations that build this.
We were naive I lived for something that wasn’t genuine humanity.
We built it so big there’s no way out anymore.
We got manipulated and owned.
People need to put genuine humanity over lifestyles sold by nations.
What a pathetic existence you have to become to fall for something so stupid.
And to get ahead of the dumbness, them “really believing it” is being a pathetic enough existence to fall for something so stupid.
Fascism is not the result of stupidity but the result of capitalist crisis.
Fascism is what happens when social safety nets are removed, wages are withheld, education is withered, healthcare is not obtainable, and transportation crumbles.
I’d amend that to say fascism is what happens when capitalists allow those things to proliferate, then get scared that people will fight back. While fascism is indeed a petit-bourgeois ideology that arises from that class’s reaction to capitalist crisis, it’s important to remember that it is the bourgeois who are fascism’s beneficiaries and who are the first to foment it during crises.
Sure, but they only did it after years of being lied to and propagandized by Hitler and Himmler…
